| Tipper mauls minor to death, locals protest | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 24: in a tragic incident a 12-year-old boy was crushed by a tipper at Purkhoo which spontaneously triggered protest by locals and Akhnoor road which remained disrupted for few hours for normal traffic.
According to police sources, the deceased has been identified as Dimple (12) son of late Raj Kumar of Purkhoo.
Police sources said that accident took place this morning when Dimple student of Govt Middle School Mishriwala was crossing road at Purkhoo.
Agitated local staged protest and demanded due compensation to the aggrieved family which is very poor and blocked the ever busy Akhnoor road at Purkhoo. The police and senior administrative officials rushed to the spot to pacify the protestors.
Police sources said, " The Additional Deputy Commissioner Arun Manhas handed over the relief cheque of Rs One Lakh from Red Cross Society to mother of deceased and also assured due help to the aggrieved family. It was assurance from the authorities after which the protestors lifted their protest and police restored normal traffic.
Meanwhile the body of deceased was shifted to the mortuary of the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu for legal formalities while a case in this connection has been registered at Kanachak police station. |
