| Centre rules out ceasefire in J&K | | | New Delhi | Oct 10 The Centre on Wednesday ruled out a ceasefire of operations against militants in Jammu and Kashmir and said a peaceful atmosphere prevailed in the border state. "There is no question of ceasefire," Defence Minister A K Antony said on the sidelines of a function here. "We are all for peace. There is peace in Jammu and Kashmir. The violence level has come down sharply. So where is the question of ceasefire," Antony said. The Minister was responding to questions by newspersons whether the Centre would order ceasefire against militants in response to a three-day truce announced by the United Jehad Council, an umbrella organisation of the militant groups based in Pakistan occupied Kashmir. Asked about reports of Chinese troop incursions into Bhutan, Antony said, "We are ascertaining the facts." |
