| HWSK to undertake repairs of temples, shrines in Kashmir | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Oct 10 Hindu Welfare Society, Kashmir (HWSK) has decided to undertake repairs of all shrines and temples across Kashmir valley to enable Kashmiri Pandit devotees across the world to perform their socio-religious ceremonies at these sacred places. The Society would accept the assistance of any other social, cultural or religious organizations in this noble and pious task. This decision was taken at a meeting held under the chairmanship of its president A.K. Rajpori. Others who attended the meeting were B N Bhat, R L Koul, C L Bhat and Bal Ji Pandita. Appreciating the role of Kashmiri Muslim brethren in providing all requisite assistance in religious ceremonies at different shrines in valley, the Society has expressed the hope that Muslims all over the Valley would continue their patronage in future as well in order to preserve old-age socio-cultural harmony in Kashmir, a Society handout said. . It further said that the Society, representing about 7000 Kashmiri Hindus in the valley presently has been espousing the cause of Pandit community in the valley in matters of their socio-economic problems as also in dealing with the matter relating to preservation of cultural heritage of the community. It has been able to get jobs for about 150 unemployed youth of the community in the valley. The handout however urged the government to take note of the problems being encountered by the community in different parts of Valley, especially in matters relating to properties of those who have migrated to other parts of the country. |
