| HC issues notice with direction to produce selection record | | Selection of 221 teachers, others in District Rajouri challenged | | Early Times Reporter

Justice Nirmal Singh of Jammu and Kashmir High Court, Jammu Wing, in a writ petition filed by 70 petitioners, challenging the selection of 221 teachers and others selected in District Rajouri on the basis of favoritism, issued notice to Commissioner Secretary Education Department, Secretary SSRB, Shafiq Raina Chairman Interview Committee/Member SSRB,. Nagesh Sharma member interview committee, MA Shah District Employment Officer Rajouri member interview committee and Director School Education Jammu to reply within two weeks.
Court, after hearing Adv Sudershan Sharma appearing for the petitioners, directed Adv Shukla to keep the record available on the next date of hearing.
Vikesh Bakshi and 69 others in a writ petition challenged the selection of 221 teachers and other posts in the District Rajouri for which interviews were conducted by a Committee constituted for the purpose maintained that the petitioners fully eligible and highly qualified with professional qualifications of B. Ed / M. Ed were ignored and those lower in merit and qualification were selected.
During the course of arguments, Adv Sudershan Sharma submitted that selection committee member respondent No 4 Nagesh Sharma got his relations, figuring at serial No 11, 103, 54, 127, 118 and 64, selected in open category whereas serial No 2 and 11 are brothers-in-law of the selection committee member .Counsel for the petitioner alleged that these selections has been made at the instance of certain political leaders. He further leveled serious allegations on the members of the interview committee and submitted that the interview committee members being locals have not conducted the interview and further submitted that 60 candidates were selected from Tehsil Thanamandi from where the respondent No 3, Shafiq Raina Chairman Interview Committee, hails and as such prayed for quashing the entire selection list.(JNF) |
