| Hakeem pleads innocence, attacks PDP for 'conspiracy' | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 10 The Transport Minister Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen named in the Srinagar sex scandal, instead of offering resignation on moral grounds as widely expected, has expressed his innocence and alleged that he is being falsely framed in the case. Yaseen who arrived in Srinagar this morning from Saudi Arabia where he had gone on religious pilgrimage said that he had no reason to resign as Minister as false allegations have been leveled against him. He alleged political conspiracy to damage him ahead of the elections. In a statement issues here this evening, Yaseen launched an indirect attack against the Peoples Democratic Party for defaming him. Without naming the PDP which roped the minister's brother into its fold early this year, Yaseen said "these people have been running a malicious campaign for the past several years to tarnish my image". He said, "they are worried about my rising political graph which is why they have got me implicated". Though he did not name the Peoples Democratic Party anywhere in his statement but his hints were enough to understand. He also made an indirect reference to a couple of Peoples Democratic Party leaders who he alleged were hatching conspiracy against him. Meanwhile, alleging that a number of ministers and legislators of ruling Congress and PDP were involved in the infamous Srinagar sex scandal, the BJP today said the coalition government has forfeited the right to rule. "Two major coalition partners, Congress and PDP, are pulling in different directions and letting each other down. The government is ridden by sex scam and they have forfeited their right to govern the state," state BJP chief Ashok Khajuria told reporters here. Under these circumstances, government should resign and Governor's rule should be imposed in the state, he said. A number of ministers and legislators belonging to both these parties are not only involved in corrupt practices but also involved in sex scandal, Khajuria alleged. The BJP chief said what is needed is the dissolution of the present assembly and a fresh election. |
