Mohini Daljeet Singh, President, Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA), Western Command who is accredited with evolving a contemporary vision for AWWA, Western Command, arrived in Jammu on 11 October 2007 on a three day visit. On her arrival at Jammu Airport, she was extended a hearty welcome by Mrs Geeta Nagal, President AWWA, Rising Star Corps and Mrs Sadhna Loomba President AWWA Tiger Division. During her stay, Mrs Mohini will be reviewing the efforts all AWWA institutes of Jammu and satellite Cantonments. AWWA is a non government organization which came into exercise in 1966 and aims at the holistic development and welfare of Army Wives especially war widows and their children. Mrs Mohini has worked tirelessly to maintain a constant close interaction with the families of soldiers with the aim of achieving a secure and fulfilling community life thus, giving the soldier the confidence to effectively perform his duties towards the Nation with the certainty of assured welfare of his family. Mohini has directed the efforts of AWWA Western Command to achieve greater self reliance for the families of soldiers by organizing structured, income generating vocational courses in various AWWA institutes including certificate courses like the six month Beauticians Course being run under the aegis of Tiger Division in collaboration with Government Women Polytechnic, Jammu Pickle Making Project, conduct of hand embroidery and machine embroidery classes etc by trained instructors. She has directed opening of Brave Heart Empowerment Cell in all stations to provide a Single window to Veer Naris to obtain guidance on all issues like self employment/ employment of their children, pension related problems, issue of single smart card for CSD and MH facilities etc. |
