| Family Accommodations provided to jawans | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu Oct 11
The Tiger Division achieved another milestone, today, when as part of Indian Army’s prestigious Married Accommodation Project (MAP), 100 quarters for married jawans were inaugurated at Sunjuwan Military Station. The set of quarters named as Vijay Vihar Extension was inaugurated by Lieutenant General Daljeet Singh, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command. The quarters have been provided with all modern with all modern facilities and adhere to the seismic standards. The construction of these 100 quarters commenced in July 2005 as first phase of mega married accommodation project of Indian Army for which Government has allocated Rs 17,000 crores. The project is aimed at provisioning full authorization of married accommodation in all Army cantonments and thus improving the quality of life of the soldiers. Lieutenant General Daljeet Singh, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command lauded the efforts put in for timely completion of the project. He also expressed his happiness to see Sunjuwan Military Station coming up as a model military station and complimented the Station Commander, Brigadier HS Brar for high standards of maintenance of the station. He mentioned that besides improving the standard of life of jawans, construction of married accommodation also helps instilling a sense of social security amongst jawans serving in far flung areas of the country. |
