45.40 cr earmarked under priority sectors

Major allocation of Rs.45.40 crore for the current financial year has been earmarked under priority sector in district Rajouri.
While giving categorical information of the priority sectors, District Development Commissioner, Rajouri Rafiq Ahmed Sheikh told that the allocation under capital component comprises Rs.12.00 crore under roads and bridges (PWD), Rs.3.74 crore in PHE, Rs.4.12 crore under irrigation, Rs.2148.73 lakh in education and Rs.4.96 crore in health sectors.
Under road and bridges, allocation comprises Rs.2.00 crore as State sector and Rs.10.00 crore as loan assistance from NABARD which will be utilized on construction of 81.75 km roads in the district. Besides 5 bridges/culverts and 36 home pipe culverts are proposed for completion. During first quarter of the current financial year 26.20 Km of roads have been blacktopped metteled, shingling and made fair weather. In addition work on 26 pipe culvers have also been completed in the district.
Similarly, allocation under PHE sector included Rs.1.22 crore as state share, Rs.80.00 lakh as LIC loan and Rs.1.72 crore as loan assistance from NABARD. 61 water supply schemes (WSS) comprising 31 WSS meant for up-gradation and 9 mohras are being executed in the current year thereby benefiting 8552 souls. The DDC also disclosed that the WSS for Baba Ghulam Shah Bahdshah University at Danhore, Rajouri has also been taken up at an estimated cost Rs 96.56 lakh against out of which Rs.65.50 lakh has been utilized.
Under irrigation sector, out of the total allocation, Rs.40.24 lakh as state share, Rs.50.00 lakh as NABARD and Rs.322.55 lakh as central assistance is being used on improvement/remodeling of 69 irrigation schemes. Out of the total schemes, 22 are under Assistance Irrigation Benefit Population (AIBP),04 under NABARD assistance and 43 under state sector. By 9 schemes are being executed to create a additional irrigation potential of 100 heactares during the current year. An amount of Rs.6.46 lakh stands utilized so far for the purpose.
Under Education sector, 24 additional class rooms and 30 school building are being constructed and renovated. Besides this, 11500 students up to middle standard are provided pre-matric scholarships. Under SSA 1113 school buildings/additional class rooms have been approved for execution, of which, 106 works/buildings have been taken up, 344 have been completed and 568 are proposed to be completed this year.
Under health sector, 7 PHC building, 3 health sub centres and 6 sets of residential staff quarters are proposed for completion. Moreover, 3 PHC building, 15 health sub-centers shall also be taken up for execution.
Under IAY/RHS, 460 houseless BPL families are being assisted for construction of houses by utilizing Rs.26.00 lakh as state share and Rs.96.69 lakh as central share. Meantime, 751 out of 1795 rural works stands completed so far in the district.
