| Seven killed, six injured in canteen blast | | | Early Times Reporter SRINAGAR | Oct 11
Seven persons including two civilians and five army personnel were killed and six jawans injured after a gas cylinder exploded inside an army canteen in Pattan area of Baramulla district on Thursday. A gas cylinder inside army's wet canteen at Hamre in Pattan area exploded killing two civilians and five army personnel and injuring six other jawans, Deputy Inspector General of Police, North Kashmir, B Srinivas said. The impact of the blast was so huge that a portion of the building housing the canteen turned into rubbles, defence sources said. The incident took place when the canteen was packed with soldiers gathered there to watch the live telecast of the one-day international cricket match between India and Australia, they said. Hizbul Mujahideen has owned responsibility for the blast. |
