| Workshop on summary revision of electoral rolls held | | | Early Times Reporter

In connection with conducting of summary revision of electoral Rolls for assembly and parliament constituencies, a one day workshop for the booth level officers (BLOs) was held at Leh, today. The Deputy Commissioner, Leh. Dr. M.K. Bhandari who is also the Electoral Registration officer for Leh district inaugurated the workshop.
Addressing the workshop, Dr. Bhandari said that the process of summary revision revision of Electoral rolls is a democratic exercise to ensure free and fair elections with one-man one-vote concept. He said, BLOs have to take this responsibility with utmost seriousness while conducting revision of electoral roll in the field and added that such exercise is the base and foundation for a transparent elections, therefore there should be no lapses in conducting revision of the electoral rolls.
He laid a special emphasis on the BLOs to make them fully aware about the process and guidelines of electoral rolls revision before going to the field. He said that Ladakh Parliamentary Constituency is chose for Photo Electoral Roll in J&K State and the process for issuance of Photo Electoral Roll to the left out voters of the district would be completed soon. The final publication of the rolls will be done on 21-01-2008. It was told in the workshop that all the preliminary and preparatory works in this regard shall be completed well before the date of draft publication of the electoral rolls.
As many as 70 BLOs attended the workshop today. |
