| 9-wkt win for RCC, enters quarterfinals | | | Early Times Reporter JAMMU | Oct 11 Rehari Cricket Club (RCC) today registered a big nine-wicket victory over Gorkha Cricket Club to sail into the quarterfinals of ongoing Satish Sharma memorial under-19 cricket tournament at Parade ground, here. It was Amritpal’s brilliant knock of unbeaten 54 off 53 balls which guided RCC’s easy triumph over Gorkha in another low scoring match. He was later adjudged man of the match. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Gorkha Club lost all their wickets for 131 runs in 24.4 overs of the 35 overs match, which, in reply, RCC chased the total in 21.1 overs losing just one wicket. Pinku was top scorer with 32 runs while Rishu added 14-ball 16 including three boundaries. The extras contributed highest 53 runs. From RCC, Amit claimed four wickets while Shajad Ali took three and Vijay Singh Chib two. Chasing a small total 133 runs, RCC reached the required target in mere 21.1 overs for one. While Shubam was retired hurt at 22, Amrit Pal Singh played a match winning innings of 54 not out. Jatin also batted well and made 19 runs. In this match, J&K skipper who has recently joined the Indian Cricket League was special invitee. He presented a memento to man of the match, Amrit Pal. Brij Mohan and Santa Singh were umpires in today’s match while Rajeev Pakhetra was scorer. In the next match, Trikuta College XI will shall on Shastri Cricket Club on October 13 at 9.30 am in the fourth quarterfinal match. Meanwhile, three teams have made it into the semi-finals. These are MA Stadium XI, Kathua Blue Cricket Club and winner of today’s match, Rehari Cricket Club. |
