| Police to move against 'sex hotels' | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 11 Sending shock waves down the spines of many big and famous, the high powered CBI team today arrived in Srinagar to get on with probing of sexploitation case. Meanwhile, after rocking of the names of several influential people involved in the infamous sex scam, the focus is now on the hotels, government buildings, guest houses and farm houses where this "illicit pleasure" went on for years. Sources said that the Jammu and Kashmir police will take action against hotels named by the victims in sexual exploitation case. Even though the CBI is going to move swiftly against the persons involved in the racket, the team of Jammu and Kashmir Police will move against the premises and will share the report with CBI team. The decision to act against the hotels follows landmark judgment by High Court on October 8, 2007 in which Justice Bashir Ahmad Kirmani and Justice Hakim Imtiyaz Hussain ordered suitable police action against the hotels named in the statements quoted and those figuring in challans produced. The court also ordered Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda to form a special team of police officers with reputed integrity to be headed by a DIG for exclusively dealing with the case of illicit sex traffic and drug trade in whatever form and cases relating to drug abuse. "The police department has received two orders. We are examining these orders and required action will be taken", said a senior Police officer. The court order also said, "The Magistrate may also direct action against the hotels and guest houses if warranted in accordance with the provisions of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956. |
