| 40,000 visit Bhavan on Ist Navratra | | Governor performs Pratham Pujan at Vaishno Devi | | Early Times Reporter Katra | Oct 12 A record 40,000 pilgrims thronged from various parts of the country to pay obeisance at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Bhavan on the first day of Navratras today. Governor, Lt. General (Retd) S K Sinha, who is also the Chairman of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, performed the Pratham Puja, participated in the Mahayagya and made Kalash Sathapana. The Pujaris led by Head Pujari, Pandit Vishwa Murti Shastri recited Vedic Mantras in the serene and spiritual ambience of the Mata’s Bhavan while devotees kept chanting ‘Jai Mata Di’. Chief Executive Officer, Dr Arun Kumar and Additional Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB, Mr Puneet Kumar were also present during the Pratham Pujan. Yesterday, 35000 devotees paid obeisance at the Cave Shrine. The SMVDSB has made elaborate arrangements for the visiting pilgrims, especially during Navratras. General Sinha greeted the pilgrims in the Bhavan and wished them blissful Navratras. He prayed for peace, prosperity and tranquility in the State. |
