| PM meets President Kalam | | |
New Delhi, Aug 19: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday met President A P J Abdul Kalam, a day after assent was given to the controversial office of profit bill.
The two leaders discussed matters of "national importance" including business in the current session of Parliament, Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesman S M Khan said.
The presidential assent came after Parliament passed a motion for constituting a joint committee to define office of profit.
This is the second meeting in the past four days between the two leaders. Singh had an unscheduled meeting with Kalam on August 15 during which the issue of giving assent to the office of profit bill was believed to have been discussed.
Kalam, who had held back his assent for two weeks, finally gave his consent after the terms of reference of the joint committee of parliament addressed the concerns he had voiced while returning bill on May 30.
