| Mushroom growth of unauthorized hotels, lodges in residential area resented | | Khatika Talab area turned into garbage dumping centre: allege inhabitants | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 12 Expressing their serious concern over the mushroom growth of hotels, lodges and dormitories in the residential locality, which is now becoming a commercial hub, the inhabitants of Khatikan Talab here have said that there is every apprehension of any anti-national elements taking shelter in these unauthorized hostels and lodges as has been witnessed in the recent past. Alleging disposal of evacuee property, the inhabitants said that one such example is that of House NO 441 belonging to EP that has been sold by its occupants after taking huge amount. The said house is reportedly being converted into a hotel by its new owner so much so one of its portion has already been converted into a hotel. ‘Despite being fully aware of these developments, the inhabitants alleged, ‘it is being done with the active connivance of the EP officials’. The inhabitants in a meeting while discussing the problems confronting the residents of the area criticized the Jammu Municipal Corporation for turning the area into a garbage dumping ground causing great health problem to the people of the area. ‘The visit of the Mayor and his assurance after inspecting the dumping ground to clean the site daily, has remained a mere promise for the suffering residents as nothing on the ground has been done till date’, the residents welfare society in a handout said. |
