| PDD plays obvious truant | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 12 On two most auspicious religious occasions for Hindus and Muslims alike, the power supply system today played truant upsetting the religious sentiments. As today was the first Navratra and last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan, the power supply went off this afternoon spoiling many religious functions and congregations in temples as well as mosques. Most upsetting scenes were particularly observed in the mosques where people had gathered for the Friday prayers. The power could be restored only when the prayers were over. However, later the department clarified that trouble in supply erupted due to a failure in the Northern Grid. According to a statement of Power Development Department, due to the system failure in the Northern Grid today at 12.50 PM, the whole power supply system of J&K alongwith Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and other states collapsed which resulted inconvenience to the general public. Later, the system was restored at 3 PM. |
