On the eve of holy Navratras, the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has come up with an apt gift for the local enterprising youth aspiring to venture into business as a quota has been fixed for them for allotment of shops.
30 per cent of the shops available with the Shrine Board shall be kept under preferential arrangement and allotted to state subjects of J&K state, said a spokesman of the SMVD Shrine Board. He added that only after these shops do not receive sufficient response despite twice advertising the same, the left-over stock of the shops shall be taken in the general category, where again these people shall have every right to apply even in general category.
He said that as part of its social responsibility, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has decided to license 30 per cent of its shops to local unemployed and enterprising youth having capability to serve the devotees by giving them preferential treatment. The licensees will have to shoulder the responsibilities of serving the devotees of Mata in a genuine manner under the overall framework suggested by the Shrine Board, who is vested with the responsibility of arranging for the facilitation for the pilgrims.
While allocating the shops, eligibility for the candidates shall be first decided in favour of those, who themselves or their immediate family members like father, mother, sister, brother or spouse do not own or possess any shop in Katra or on the track and not more than one shop shall be allocated to any individual in category of preferential allotment. The allotment procedure in case of more applicants than the shops shall be an open draw of lots which shall be done in the presence of general public on an appointed day, which shall be announced well in advance.
He said that the successful licensees shall have to sign the license deed for a period of three years and abide by all the terms and conditions of the Shrine Board. The licensee shall sell only scheduled articles on the rates and quantity approved by the licensor only through Cash Registrex Machine. All the accounts shall be properly maintained.
The spokesman added that all branded items shall be sold on MRP and the other items for which pre-determined prices have been worked out by the Shrine Board. If the licensee intends to add any additional item in his business, prior permission from the Shrine Board will be a prerequisite. In no case variation of more than five percent in respect of quantity and quality approved by the licensor shall be allowed in favour of licensee. Any deviation there- from will result in revocation of the license without any prior notice.
He added that the licensee will have to display the rate list of the articles to be sold at least in 2-3 places in the shop premises.
