Seminar on Amehi Medical System held

LAHDC would continue its pressure on Central Govt get recognition to Sowa Rigpa (Amehi Medical System) to find a place for it in Ayush. This was started by the chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC Leh Chering Dorje while addressing the inaugural session of three day National Seminar on inter relation between Sawa- Rigpa and Ayurveda organized by the Sowa-Rigpa Research Centre (SRRC) Leh.
He said that such a prestigious National level seminar on this topic at this point of time would become an important tool in getting recognition to Sowa Rigpa because the matter is under consideration with Govt. of India. He said that the outcome of this seminar would prove the values of this living medical system, as Sowa Rigpa fulfills all the criteria for recognition as an independent medical system like Ayurveda having its root and base originate to India. He said chiness Govt/ has recognizing he Sowa Rigpa, and are effectively using it in their national health programme and policies, and are Dorje strongly said that Govt. of India should not delay in recognition Sowa Rigpa Keeping its importance for public life in view.
The Executive Councillor, Health Dorje Mutup while addressing welcomed the seminar on a highly relevant subject which is connected with public health. He said that LAHDC is very much committed to preserve and promote Sowa Rigpa system saying that it would struggle for getting due place for this medical system in Ayush.
The Executive Councilor Art and Culture Tsewang Rigzin in his address hoped for a fruitful results from this seminar. He appealed the Amchies of Ladakh to have free discussions and interactions on all health subjects and urged them for exchanging their skill and knowledge to each other to strengthen the gravity of Sowa Rigpa.
Dr. S.T. phuntsog, Director Mahabodhi Charity Hospital, Dr. M.M. Padhi, Deputy Director CCRAS Delhi S.K. Chada, Director Ayush, Department of India, Dr. M.M. Rao, Amehi Gyurmet Namgyal, Dr. Thinlas Yangor, Dr. M.M. Sharma, Dr. GVR Joseph, Dr. Konchok Tsering and Amehi Reigzin Wangtak presented their papers on various themes of Sowa Rigpa, its importance and inter-relation between Sowa Rigpa and Ayurveda system.
Earlier, Dr. Padma Gyurmet, Research Officer, Sowa Rigpa Research Centre Leh while welcoming the guests and participants said that Govt. of India has provided Rs. 1050 crores for construction of Amehi Research Centre complex at Leh for which, the LAHDC has allotted 6 kanals of land in Leh. He also said that LAHDC has provided 225 kanal of land near Phey village for cultivation and preservation of important medicinal herbs.
