| Charak inspects construction works in Jammu city | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 14 Minister for Road and Building Gulchain Singh Charak today inspected ongoing construction works in different part of the Jammu city. Executive Engineer R&B Division-II K. D Salalia and Executive Engineer Division- I Manhas and other senior officer of the concerned department accompanied the Minister. During his visit to Indira Chowk where the construction work of nallah is in full swing, the ERA representatives assured the Minister that the nallah would be constructed before November 5, 2007 and the road will be opened for regular traffic. The Minister directed them to complete the work within stipulated time frame so that the problem of traffic congestion near the area causing grave inconvenience to people can be solved. The Minister also inspected the construction work at SMGS Hospital which is being executed under double shift and is expected to be complete before May 2008. He also visited Shalimar road where a railing is being constructed for preventing the occurrence of any mishap at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.25 lakh. The Minister directed the concerned authorities to complete the work before darbar move. The Minister also visited Janipura- Ambgrota road to inspect the ongoing construction and up-graduation work. He was informed that this project is being completed at an estimated cost of Rs 7.28 crore under C.R.F Scheme. He asked the engineers to use quality material in construction works and cautioned that any officer found using sub-standard material would not be spared. Later, the Minister visited Vikram Chowk where he inspected the work of road widening and construction of footpath across the road. The Minister said that with the widening of the road in the area the traffic problems due to frequent jams and congestion would be solved. Stating that better road connectivity being imperative for speeding development process, the Minister said that coalition government led by Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad is giving foremost importance to develop the basic infrastructure like roads, drains, drinking water facilities, electricity in the far-flung areas. The Minister directed the R&B authorities to complete works like beautification of roads, premixing, marking of central line, painting of kerb stone before darbar move. |
