| Rajeev claims main title as India wins 3-1 in Indo-Pak dangal | | | Early Times Reporter Katra | Oct 14 Rajeev Tomar won the main bout to help India make it a 3-1 victory over Pakistan in the second Indo-Pak Dosti dangal which was witnessed by a strong gathering of near 30,000 at Vivekanand Stadium, here. India’s Rajeev Tomar, who won the final main bout beating Pakistan’s Hamid Khan was awarded a cash prize of Rs 31,000 and a silver gurj besides an Indo-Pak Dosti Mission patta by the chief guest, Union Labour Minister, Oscar Fernandes. Earlier, in the first bout, Pappu of Pakistan held Jaqir Hussain of India to a draw. The second bout was won by Imran of India while in the third bout, Shahid of Pakistan outplayed Rakesh of India. The fourth bout was again won by India’s Rehmat Ali who beat Rehman of Pakistan. Earlier, the five-member Pakistan team as also a coach and manager were introduced with a big crowd amid claps by the organizers. The international event was organized under the banner of Indian Style Wrestling Association of India by the J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association led by Shiv Kumar Sharma. It was supported by the Navratra Festival Committee of Katra and J&K State Sports Council besides a host of other agencies and organisations. The Union Minister was accompanied by the Minister for Health, Mangat Ram Sharma, Minister for Rural Development, Minister of State for Sports, Babu Singh and Member Parliament, Lal Singh as also other distinguished guests. |
