| He Came, He Waited and then went home all alone | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 15 When politicians are occupying hot seat of power large number of party workers, and others flock them and seek favour from them. But when the same politicians are out of power no one spares a glance to look at them leave aside acknowledging them in public. Same is happening with former Deputy Chief Minister and senior PDP leader Muzaffar Hussain Beg these days as he is moving around like a free bird wearing a more thin and smart look. Ever since he moved out of the office of deputy chief minister and handed his charge of finance ministry to Mr Tariq Hameed Qarra, blue eyed boy of PDP patron Mufti Mohd Sayeed, Mr Beg has been maintaining a low profile and talking less in public and more in private to a select group of political friends discussing emerging political scenario and the progress of peace process vis-a-vis Kashmir. Dressed in black pants, dark blue shirt and grey coloured vasket when Mr Beg emerged out of the arrival lounge of Jammu airport escorted by one policemen on Monday there was hardly anyone from the PDP state unit to receive him. There were no usual garlands or bouquets for him as he stepped out of the airport lobby. No slogan shouting and no gate crashing party workers greeted him on his arrival in Jammu. After waiting for a minute a private luxury car bearing registration number JK02AF-4040 emerged from the VVIP parking lot and stopped nearby Mr Beg. He comfortably sat in it and left the place immediately reminding many local residents present in the waiting area that not long ago this man was occupying second most hot seat in the government and was instrumental in driving the state economy out of the turmoil it was facing struggling hard to bring it back on to the tracks. Political observers closely observing Mr Beg believe that even after ironing out difference with PDP patron Mufti Mohd Sayeed Mr Beg has not been able to completely come out of the shell and every time he is present in Jammu he remain invisible and very often step out on public platforms and make political noises. On the other hand when a senior PDP leader was contacted for his comments why such a treatment has been accorded to senior PDP leaders he explained" that it is not always party workers are supposed to welcome their leaders.Senior politicians also sometime love privacy and do not want attention", he added downplaying the incident. It may be mentioned that the recent ouster of another PDP Minister Qazi Mohd Afzal from the Azad’s cabinet has once again raised hopes of senior PDP leaders including Mr Gh Mir and Mr Beg of staging a comeback to give more teeth to the party and its campaign in support of idea of self-rule.Mr Beg is the man who is often credited in PDP circles for authoring draft of self-rule and is awaiting rehabilitation. |
