| DFP organize women meet on AIDS | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 15 Over 100 rural women drawn from different villages of Bishnah block mostly Anganwari Workers participated in the meet. As many as 10 women speakers namely Reeta, Kamlesh, Anita, Kamla, Anisha, Pushpa Lata etc expressed their views and strongly advocated for the promotion of morale values in the Indian society with special reference to Hindu marriage concept. Sharing the concern, the women urged upon the people to educate youth about AIDS and its prevention for enabling our younger generation to know about AIDS and its implications on the society. Since independence India could control diseases like Small Pox, T.B but with the spread of AIDS, the country is facing new challenge for which no medical treatment has been explored so far. Programme Officer ICDS, Smt Kamla Devi presided over the function and gave away prizes to the participants on the occasion. A skit presentation Of "AIDS Awareness" by Anganwari Workers was the main attraction of the Programme. Besides this a Photo Exhibition depicting various aspects of AIDS and its prevention was also organized on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion V. K. Mangotra I/C DFP J & K region disclosed that Jammu district has been identified as one of the vulnerable and epidemiology risk by National AIDS Control Society. In this connection, a series of publicity awareness programmes are being organized by our department at different block headquarters of Jammu district in coordination with State AIDS Control Society, Health & Family Welfare Department, Social Welfare Department (ICDS) and various NGO’s in order to combat the spread of AIDS. |
