| Mobile train exhibition to arrive Oct 28 | | Celebration of 150 yrs of 1857 struggle, 60 yrs of India’s independence | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 15 The mobile train exhibition being implemented by DAVP in collaboration with Ministry of Railways is arriving at Jammu from Pathankot on October 28 at 2 am to commemorate of 150 years of 1857 freedom struggle and 60 years of India’s Independence. This is a part of project of train based exhibition jointly implemented by Ministry of I & B and Ministry of Culture. This was informed by Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sudhanshu Pandey at a high level meeting convened here today. The special train comprising 12 non-AC coaches to house the exhibits and one 2-tier AC coach for residence of staff accompanying the train has been flagged off by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh from Delhi on 29th September, 2007. So far, the train has covered 10 cities and town across the country. The train exhibition has been divided into 3 section apart from Sales Pavilion like 1857 Revolt which will focus on major events of the revolt at various flash points such as Barrackpore, Meerut and Delhi, 1857 to 1947 which will depict details of 90 years of freedom struggle of India and post independence era which will portray the achievements of India in various field besides highlighting its relation with other countries. The Divisional Commissioner exhorted upon all the officers to ensure participation of children above 6th standard of both private and government schools, colleges both professional and non-professional and university in this three day train exhibition to be held at Jammu on 28th, 29th and 30th of October 2007 in view of the uniform timing of the exhibition from 10 am to 5 am. He also emphasized the need to involve NGOs and other allied agencies in this event for ensuring maximum participation of the people. Pandey suggested organize the visiting children and other people in to groups for witnessing this mega event so that no stampede, over-crowding or related incidents occur. He asked all the concerned officers to ensure adequate arrangements of water, electricity, health care, sanitation, proper parking etc for the convenience of the organizers and the people as well. |
