Jammu | Oct 15
Expressing concern over the plight of people of far flung areas of Rajouri and Poonch who migrated in the wake of militancy, Zahir Abbas Bhatti Congress leader and Chairman All India Mahatma Gandhi National Foundation has demanded proper registration of these migrants and grant of relief at part with other migrants in the state.
Addressing media persons here today Bhatti said that despite repeated pleas these hapless migrants have been denied relief by the state administration and called upon the government led by CM Ghulam Nabi Azad to rise to the occasion and order relief to these migrants at par with other migrants putting up in Jammu region.
Saying that people have suffered losses due to recent rains and flood, he regretted that neither any relief has been paid to the affected people so far nor the any survey has been conducted to assess the damages caused to the standing crops . He urged the government especially the district administration to immediately get the losses assessed so that the relief is provided to the affected farmers.
Making a dig on the BSNL, Bhatti said that the entire communication system in the border districts has come to standstill. He also laid stress on improving the road connectivity in the border belts besides improving drainage and sewerage system in the twin towns of Rajouri and Poonch. He demanded immediate construction of road from Thana Mandi to Dera Gali via Shahdara Sharief, setting up of a Veterinary Hospital and Allopathic Dispensary at Bhangi, Mangota, Azamtabad and Rajdhani besides, degree colleges at Manjakot, Budhal and Darhal.
