| Mehboob Iqbal chairs JKCA Jammu wing meet | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 15 In its first ever meeting after a long gap, the Jammu wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), which met here this evening under the chairmanship of Association chairman, Mehboob Iqbal, formed various committees for the smooth conduct of the forthcoming North Zone events at different venues of Jammu. The meeting, which was attended by 12 out of the 15 Jammu based affiliated clubs of the JKCA, also resolved to work unitedly for the upliftment of cricket in the region. For the purpose, a committee of former senior state cricketers was also formed. According to Sunit Sharma, joint secretary of the JKCA Jammu almost all the city grounds where there is scope to play cricket come up for discussion and it was decided to form sub-committees for such fields. The proposal mooted by Ranjit Kalra, who represented the University of Jammu in the meeting, regarding utilization of University ground for junior cricketers was appreciated by the members. Later Kalra was offered the job to look after junior cricket competitions at the University ground which he accepted. Representative of the Shastri Cricket Club, Des Rattan Dubey has been made liason officer with the match referees of BCCI arriving Jammu for different matches, disclosed the joint secretary. Vice-chairman of the Jammu wing, Shyam Saroop Kalsotra has been assigned the job to form committees for Udhampur. The committees, comprised of senior cricketers, formed to see how the game can be promoted in Jammu include Pran Malhotra, Prof Barjinder Singh, Randhir Singh Beru, Harsh Nayar and Ramesh Pargal. Other committees: GGM Science College: Dr Vinod Bakshi, Anchal Singh, Ajit Angral, Vivek Khajuria and Ravi Sharma. MA Stadium: Rajan Sharma (manager stadium), A H Qazmi and Ashok Gupta. Parade Ground: Des Rattan Dubey, Anil Gupta, Vijay Sabharwal and Ashok Gupta. |
