Ram Dayal’s ton guides SCC to 119-run win

Shastri Cricket Club (SCC) today entered the final of Satish Sharma memorial under-19 cricket tournament in style outplaying MA Stadium XI by a big margin of 119 runs in the second semi-finals played today at Parade ground here.
Earlier, batting first after MA Stadium XI won the toss and opted to field, SCC scored tournament’s highest total of 259 runs for eight in 35 overs surpassing Kathua Blues’ 248 in the opening match against Tiny Tots School. In reply, MA Stadium XI could score only 140 runs losing all their wickets in 32.2 overs.
Ram Dayal scripted the SCC’s big win with his fire brand innings of 133 runs coming off mere 103 balls including 21 boundaries. Manik Gupta and Akash Balwal contributed 26 and 22 runs respectively while Vikas added unbeaten 17. From MA Stadium XI, Dilawar Singh and Dheeraj took two wickets each while Johny bagged one.
Batting second, MA Stadium XI started their innings on a bad note losing the first wicket for one and second with score on board just 26. The wickets felled on regular intervals with increasing required run-rate resulting into the whole side bowled out for mere 140 runs in 32.2 overs.
Devi Dayal remained the top scorer with 28 runs, followed by Dheeraj and Deepak, who contributed 24 and 22 runs respectively. Dilawar added 20 runs. Manik Gupta bowled extremely well and four wickets for SCC. Ram Dayal and Bandeep Singh bagged two each.
Ram Dayal was later adjudged as man of the match for making highest of the three centuries scored in this tournament. Today’s match was officiated by Brij Mohan and Santa Singh while Rajeev Pakhetra was scorer.
Meanwhile, according to the organizers, Kathua Blues Cricket and Sports Promotion Society, the final of the tournament between Shastri Cricket Club and Rehari Cricket Club shall be played on October 19 at the same venue.
