| Intensive course for DMOs launched | | | Early Times Reporter

The three month long training program for district medical officers, organized by NIMHANS in collaboration with the Centre and the State Government, commenced here today. Psychiatry experts from the country shall deliver lecturers during the training period.
Dr. Chander Mohan Prof and HoD inaugurated the intensive course while Dr.Ramesh Gupta Medical Superintendent and the faculty team Dr.Rakash Khajuria, Administrator Associated Hospital were the chief guests.
Dr. K V Kishore, senior faculty member of NIMHANS Bangalore, Dr. J S Khorana, Deputy Director and Dr Baljit Singh Pathania Incharge NRHM/DMHP and convenor and Prof S R Khan HoD Psychology Department University of Jammu were the guests of honour.
The speakers at the course impressed the need of up dating the knowledge of doctors about the mental health programs to meet the growing challenges.
Secretary Health and Medical Education, K B Jandial in a special message said that district mental health program for district medical officers of the state is a great challenge and hoped that they would up date their knowledge to meet the emergent challenges and stressed for organizing district mental health programs.
The program is fully supported by Union Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta, Union Health Secretary Bhavani Tyag Rajan and Director and Vice Chancellor NIMHAS Dr D.M Nagraj, Dr. Chander Mohan Prof and HoD Psychiatry GMC said. |
