| Rich tributes paid to student martyrs | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 16 Rich tributes were paid today to four student martyrs, who were killed in police firing during an agitation in 1966. Various student organizations, teachers of different college and the student representatives visited the Shahidi-sathal (martyrs’ memorial) in front of GGM Science College and offered floral tributes. Jammu State Students Morcha (JJJSF), which has been in forefront in remembering the student martyrs since its inception in late eighties, today began customary fast at the Shahidi-sathal. Dean Student Welfare, Jammu University Dr. PS Pathania, Prof. MS Billowaria, Principal, SPMR College of Commerce, Vijay Attri Asstt. Dean Cultural Affairs, Vikas Sharma, President , Jammu University Research Scholars Executive Association (JURSEA) also paid tributes and prayed to the almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed souls. DR. Pathania speaking on this occasion said that noble souls never die. He further exhorted the students to work fervently for the upliftment of the society and country. Futher Vikas, JURSEA President and Vikrant Singh, State vice president JSSM appealed the student community to contribute in nation building and at the same time raise voice for their rights. Others who presented on the occasion included Mohinder Pal Singh Pandu, Sandeep Manhas, Sunil Manhas, Vaishno Charak, Sandeep Billowaria, Shivdev Singh and Ashish Palli. Activists of National Student Union of India led by Varinder Singh Chib also paid tributes to the student martyrs. GGM Science College body also joined the NSUI activists.The teachers and staff members of different colleges also visited the Shahidi-sthal and remembered the martyrs. MAM College teachers and RL Sharma, Principal MAM College was also presented on the occasion. |
