| Over 1.74 lakh devotees visit Vaishno Devi | | First 5 Navrataras | | Early Times Reporter Katra | Oct 17 Over 1.74 lakh devotees have paid obeisance in the holy cave shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji during first 5 Navratras which commenced on 12th October. With this the pilgrim has received over 58.52 lakh pilgrim from various parts of the country since January 1st this year which is 2.29 lakh pilgrims excess from the corresponding period of last year. In the first fortnight of the current month as many as 372,518 pilgrims have visited the holy cave shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi. All necessary arrangement from Katra to Bhawan have been made by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board for smooth and comfortable pilgrimage. Meanwhile, during Navratra festival at Katra, the Chief Accounts Officer of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Mr. Lochan Dass lit the traditional lamp in the cultural procession. Various jhankies which included Dogra Rasoie, Jadu Tuna, Camel Riding, Gramin panchyat, Mata ki Palki, Kud of Bhamag, pipe band and various religious and cultural tableaux attracted a large number of devotees in particular and other people of Katra and its adjoining areas on 5th day of Navratra festival in the cultural procession which was taken out from Asia chowk. Among others Assistant Commissioner Revenue Reasi Mr. Bikram Jamwal, Tehsildar Reasi Mr. Sanjay Badyal, Assistant Chief Executive Officer Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Mr. Bodh Raj, Tourist Officer Katra Mrs. Raj Kapahi, President Travel Association Mr. Surinder Khajuria, President Hotel and Restaurant Association Mr. Sham Kesar, Navratras f estival Committee members Mr. Ambrish Magotra, O.P Bali, Rajinder Kotwal, Harish Dubey and Awtar Krishan also accompanied the procession. The Song and Drama division presented cultural programme and a Drama on Mathura Brindaban. |
