| KU set to host inter-University Baseball championship | | Curtain Raiser | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Oct 17 University of Kashmir is all set to host the six-day long All India inter-University Baseball Championship on the campus from October 19. The championship, which is being organized in collaboration with Chandigarh based Baseball Federation of India, is conducted under the banner of Association of Indian Universities (AIU). “This is a first major event of its kind being hosted by any institution in the state wherein around 1000 players (both men and women) representing various universities of the country are taking part in this mega sporting event,” said Director Physical Education, University of Kashmir, Dr K a Tarzan. According to Dr Tarzan, elaborate arrangements have been made by Directorate of Physical Education, University of Kashmir for the comfortable stay of the intended players and the officials. He disclosed that this is now third all India level event held consecutively during the tenure of present Vice-Chancellor, Prof Abdul Wahib, who considers holding of such championships a boost to the sports activities in the university and its affiliated college. |
