| Poor participation as Poonch, Jammu girls win in hockey | | | Early Times Reporter

District Poonch and district Jammu won under- 14 and under-17 year titles respectively in the Divisional level inter-district girls hockey tournament played at K K Hakhu Stadium here today.
The event received poor response from the participants as only two districts in each group could turn up out of a total of 10 in Jammu division. Left with no other option but to hold competition between the two teams, the organizers put these girls directly into the final to decide the winner.
In the under-14 year category, Poonch defeated Jammu by a solitary goal. The only goal was scored by Manpreet.
However, Jammu girls played a bit superior game in the under-17 year group and defeated Poonch by two goals to one. Pooja and Baljeet Kour were the scorers from Jammu while Amandeep Kour reduced the margin from Poonch. |
