The GoC of 16 Corps Lt Gen TK Sapru confirms that the level of infiltration is almost at zero. The latest gadgets installed near the fencing has allowed ample scope to the border guards for monitoring the movement of infiltrators and during the last 10 months only 17 ingress bids were reported which had been foiled, said Gen. Sapru said that He said that the militants had failed to motivate youths for joining the rebel groups because all the financial channels had been choked. The Army authorities made it clear that the mobile communication system,in operation in 16 corps, had proved very helpful in getting specific information about the plans and hideouts of militants. This had made anti-insurgency operations result oriented. Gen. Sapru, who is taking over as GOC Western Command next month, said that for operation Sadbhavana the 16 corps would receive Rs.15 crores to Rs.16 crores annually for carrying out various development works, including building of roads, schools, micro hydel projects and for providing medical aid to the people in the border areas. He, however, expressed dissatisfaction over the delay on the part of the state Government in taking over the projects which the Army had built under operation Sadhbhavana.
