Leh | Oct 19 Ladakh is a repository of art and artifacts of ancient traditional values which needed to be protected for which National Museum and Archives & Archeology departments should come forward. This was stated by Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Chering Dorje while concluding a five day National Workshop on Property Conservation on Antiquities of Ladakh. About 75 scholars, Lamas, painters, writers, sculptors participated. It was jointly organized by National Museum New Delhi and Archives & Archeology Department. Dorjey said Ladakhis have protected and preserved its rich culture, art and artifacts of Gonpas for centuries and now it is becoming a focus for tourists at larger level. He urged upon to organize such workshops in future in all parts of Ladakh. Director, National Museum, New Delhi S.P. Singh said that Leh, the land of Lamas is imbedded with centuries old Gompas, full of priceless paintings, Thankas, frescos, statues etc. he assured that the National Museum would promote the traditional values of Ladakh. Among others, the workshop was attended by Executive Councillor, Tourism, Tsewang Rigzin, Rev. Konchog Fanday, Rev. Thuptan Paldan, Dr. Navang Tsering, Padmashri Tsering Angdus (painting), Padmashri Sonam Skalzang (Sculpture). |
