| Migrants losing right to vote : NDF | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 18 J&K National Democratic Front (NDF) are in a view that Kashmiri Hindu migrants find it very difficult to exercise their right of franchise primarily because of distortions in the electoral rolls and complicated process for casting their votes. Revision of electoral rolls already announced by the Election Commission should therefore take care of these difficulties. As per hand out the community stresses that its illegible voters should be given election photo identity card in terms of Rule 27A of J&K, Registration of Electoral Rolls and on that basis allowed to cast their votes without insisting for verification, production of D-forms etc. The Election Commission should issue appropriate instruction in this behalf. A.K. Dewani, working president NDF stated this in a meeting of the party stressed that in order to facilitate inclusion of all the illegible voters in the voter list, the records available in the Zonal offices of the J&K Migrant Relief Organization and Similar authorities operating elsewhere in the country should be taken as the basis. These records provides details in respect of all the cateogires of the migrants, camp, non-camp, relief and non-relief. This will facilitate inclusion of maximum possible illegible voters in the electoral rolls. Other who participated in the meeting were Rejoinder Koul, D.N. Kisu, P.N. Raina, Vijay Chikan, Karan Chowdri and R.K. Sehgal. |
