| Azad ropes in ADB for power projects | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 18 To give a boost to power generation in Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has sought increased funding and other financial arrangements with the Asian Development Bank. A high level team of Asian Development Bank (ADB) from Manila called on Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in Srinagar this morning to explore possibilities for availing financial and technical assistance from the Bank for improvement in power sector in Jammu and Kashmir including implementation of new hydel projects. The Chief Minister emphasized the need for a long-term relationship of ADB with the State Power Development Department for harnessing the huge available hydel power potential in Jammu and Kashmir. The Asian Development Bank team led by Director Energy, South Asia Division, Theva Kumar Kandiah assured the Chief Minister of full cooperation to the State Government for development of hydel power potential, system improvement programmes and capacity building of various State institutions including Power Development Corporation. Others present on the occasion include Minister for Power, Nawang Rigzin Jora, Commissioner/Secretary, Power Development, Basharat Ahmad, Managing Director, Power Development Corporation, S. K.
