| Farooq roars, asks Mufti to decide | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 18 With the ruling coalition partners the Peoples Democratic Party and the Congress drafting fast to fall apart, the bystander in National Conference have plunged in the melee to remind people about their presence and relevance in the present political scenario. National Conference patron and Former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah rarely address press conferences. If he has to say some thing he just do that by grabbing the opportunity. However, when Farooq meets the press formally it is always that has some thing "serious" to say. Amidst a tug of war between coalition partners, Farooq today told a press conference in Srinagar that the Peoples Democratic Party instead leveling allegations against the coalition partner should walk out of the government. Interestingly, while bashing PDP, Farooq did not spare the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad who too was equally targeted by the NC patron. "Why Mufti sahib is not asking his ministers to resign and go for fresh election, when as per him coalition government is not functioning well. This means also that his ministers are not doing well," Farooq said. Expressing disappointment over the demilitarization issue echoed by PDP, NC patron said that his party will support the demilitarization demand of PDP only when the ministers and MLA's of PDP will withdraw their personal security. "We are in support that security forces should withdraw from school buildings, hospitals, cricket grounds, but raising demilitarization issue for vote bank politics, would be never a cup of tea for NC," he said. Dr Abdullah demanded that daily trail of infamous sex scandal, so that guilty would be punished without further delay in the case. He believes, the transfer of case to Chandigrah has only delayed the proceedings and not a single accused has been punished so far. "We want to know, who are the people involved in the scandal and they deserve a harsh punishment," he said. Taking scathing attack on Azad led coalition government, Dr Abdullah said that incumbent government has hoodwinked people by making hallow promises and assurances "The huge financial assistance of 500 crores provided by central government has not been fully utilized by the state government. The coalition partners are only busy in criticizing each other and on developmental front the coalition government has completely failed," he said. Reacting to claims of chief minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad that no custodial killing has been taking place so far in the this year, Farooq Abdullah said that the statement of chief minister is baseless and his party would soon prepare a list of this year custodial killings in the state. "We will present non confidence motion in the state assembly against the government," Abdullah said. He also ruled out any plan of NC to tie-up with any political party in the upcoming assembly elections, "We have no need to tie-up with any political party. We will gain power in the coming assembly elections, as people are now fed up with the present coalition government. Their only choice is NC now," he said, adding that autonomy, peace, progress and stability would be the main agenda of the party in the coming elections. |
