| Punjab police warns JK on fresh terror attacks | | Cops of the neighbouring state asks counterparts to be vigilant | | Early Times Reporter

Close on the heels of terror attack on Ludhiana cinema hall Punjab police cops have now alerted their counterparts in Jammu and Kashmir to maintain a strict vigil following inputs that militants are planning an attack on the shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi and the Jammu Railway station.
Senior police officials, while confirming the receipt of the communication from Punjab police, said here today that in a message from Pakistan occupied Kashmir based Lashkar-i-Toiba commander, Karim Ansari, supported by posters recovered in Punjab to the militants operating in Jammu and Kashmir the rebel leader had directed them to launch an attack on the shrine and the Railway station on or before Diwali.
Police said that the Lashkar commander had also asked the militants to target cinema halls in Jammu. It is in this connection that the SSP Jammu,Mr Parminder Singh,had convened a meeting of owners and managers of local cinema halls where instructions had been given to them to strengthen the security grid. He had assured assistance from the police in this respect.
In addition to this,the Jammu police have been advised to keep a track on the movement of militants because reports having emanated from Punjab had indicated that Kashmiri militants,in league with Punjab rebels,may carry out blasts at public places in various towns of Punjab,including Bhatinda,Ferozepur,Patiala,Phagwara.The Jammu police have been also advised to further strengthen the security cover to senior political leaders as some important political leaders in Punjab were under the hit list of militants.The intelligence agency in Jammu has already alerted the police against attempts being made by Punjab militants at reviving their links with the fellow travelers in Jammu and Kashmir. |
