27 medical shops sealed

Twenty seven un-licensed medical shops have been sealed by the Jammu Drugs and Food Control Organisation in the state.
Licenses of 40 establishments were also suspended for a period of two to five days for violating the conditions of licenses granted to them, an official spokesman said here.
"These measures were taken after the organisation yesterday, as per the directions of secretary health and medical education department of the state, inspected drug sale and manufacturing establishments in order to implement the provisions of drugs and cosmetics act in letter and spirit," he said.
During the drive, 442 drugs sale establishments and five drug manufacturing units were inspected by the teams constituted in the state. To check the genuineness of the drugs, 236 samples were taken for analysis and sent to drug testing laboratories, he said, adding the red-cross emblem which was in use earlier by the pharmacies has been changed to green cross.
