| Iodine deficiency awareness | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 19 As part of Awareness Campaign on Iodine Deficiency Disorders, the Udhampur unit of the Directorate of Field Publicity, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, organized 2 days seminar for women on Iodine Deficiency Disorders, in the premises of the office of Child Development Project Officer, Reasi. The directorate also organized a symposia at Govt. High School Agharjitto. In all Eleven (11) students of Govt. High School Agharjitto and Govt. High School, Kothi Bagh participated and expressed their views and laid strong stress on the use of iodized salt only in day to day life. The function was presided over by Smt. Padma, headmistress of Govt. High School Agharjitto while Sh. V. K. Mangotra, Head of Officer, Directorate of Field Publicity, J & K Region was the Chief Guest on the occasion. In this inter School symposia Km. Surekha Sharma, Master Rahul Verma and Miss Santosh Devi of Govt High School Agarjitoo bagged First, Second and Third positions respectively. Sh. Kaka Ram, Gopal Krishan and Ramesh Chander acted as judges to judge the abilities of the participants. Sh. V. K. Mangotra, the chief guest distributed prizes among the best adjudge participants Mr. Mangotra also delivered a detailed lecture on various disorders due to the deficiency of Iodine like Goiter, retarded physical and mental growth of babies, women abortions and giving of birth to abnormal babies etc. He laid stress to use only Iodized salt. Headmistress thanked the DFP for organizing such awareness Programme in rural areas of the region. Field Publicity Unit also organized a Photo Exhibition on health awareness Programme. |
