Deepak adjudged best comedian
Navratra Fest

Deepak Kumar of Garhi, Udhampur was declared best comedian in Hassaya Vyang contest held at Katra during 7th day of on going Navratra festival last evening.
The event was organized by Hassaya Vyang Manch, Katra. The programme was sponsored by State Bank of India, Municipal Committee Katra and J&K Toursim Department.
Mr. Khabri Lal and Mr. Tinku were adjudged as 2nd and 3rd winner of the constest.
The Minister of Rural Development Department, Mr. Jugal Kishore Sharma was the chief guest while President Chamber of Commerce, Katra, Mr. Jagdish Lal Verma was the guest of honour on the occasion.
Additional S.P. Katra Mr. Ashok Sharma , President Hassaya Vyang Manch, Mr. Gopal Padha, Members of the Manch, prominent citizens, art lovers and people in large number witnessed the show.
While speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sharma complemented the organizers of the Hasaya Vyang Manch for organizing such a magnificent show during the ongoing Navratra Festival and said that such events provide an opportunities to the budding artists to exhibit their talent.
Lauding the efforts of Shree Mata Vaishno Devi Sharine Board, Toursim Deptt. and other organizations associated with Navratra festival, Mr.Sharma said that people from all walks of life should put in their best efforts and cooperation to make the celebrations a grand success.
He complemented the winners and participants of the laughter competition and hoped that they would excel in the field of art.
In all, 13 participants drawn from within and outside of the State participated in the competition. Of which 12 were selected for Semi final and only six were qualified for Mega final.
Mr. Dharun Kesar and Mr. Bhupinder Heera compared the proceedings of the programme with great perfection.
Earlier, the cultural programme reflecting rich cultural heritage of the state started from Ashia Chowk Katra where President Municipal Committee, Mr. Mulkh Raj Purohit who was the chief guest, lit the sacred Jyoti.
Among others, Vice President Municipal Committee, Katra, Mr. Madan Lal, President Indian Style Wrestling Association J&K, Mr. Shiv Kumar Sharma, President Travel Association, Mr. Surinder Khajuria, President Hotel and Restaurant, Katra, Mr. Sham Lal Kesar, members of Navratra Festival Committee, prominent citizens and devotees in large numbers participated in the procession.
