| Katra audience watches ‘Ghumayee | | | Early Times Reporter Katra | Oct 19 Balwant Thakur’s internationally acclaimed Dogri play ‘Ghumayee’ was featured here this evening. The Katra town was vibrated with the power packed rich music innovative direction and professional acting. The play has been hailed all over the country and outside for not only showcasing the rich traditional heritage of Jammu region but also giving a new cultural identity to Dogras. The performance was a life-time experience both for the performers and the audience for the reasons that actors presented it in the open air for the first time. The writer, creator and director of the play Balwant Thakur while introducing the play to over packed audience said that it has been his long cherished dream to present Ghumayee in Katra as the story belongs to the hills of this region and people here can relate to this play very closely to their life and experience as compared to the urban audience. The play opens with a ‘vidai’ scene after the solemnization of marriage and bride is being carried in a ‘doli’ to her-in law’s place. Throughout the performance Fifty member strong team of Natrang kept the audience spell bound. Those who enacted were Neeraj Kant, Sat Salarbi, Deepak Virdi Dimple Sharma, Anjali, Rahul Singh, Rohit Verma, PankushVerma, Ankush Magotra, Juhi Singh, Mohit Sharma, Pawan Verma, Rahul Singh, Rohit Verma, Pankush Verma, Ankush Lakhnotra, Mayank Bakshi, Aatish Gupta, Roohit singh and Mohd. Yasin. Mush of the play was scored by eminent singer and composer Suraj Singh. |
