| PM disappointed with Hurriyat attitude | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 19 Rebuffing the claims of the separatist organizations that Government of India has stalled the peace process, the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said that moderate faction of the Hurriyat Conference has itself backed out of its promised follow-up with him. Speaking to the accompanying journalists on board his special aircraft at the end of his two day visit to Nigeria and South Africa , the Prime Minister regretted that the Hurriyat Conference (M) did not turn up for further talks, despite having given promises to engage itself with the government at the centre to resolve the problems in Jammu and Kashmir . ''We have devised the round table conference to meet all segments of the Kashmiri political opinion and ask them to join hands with government to look at the problems,'' he told media persons on way back after his five-day-long visit to Nigeria and South Africa. ''It is my regret that the Hurriyat leaders did not come for talks despite promises to the effect given earlier,'' he said. "The round table conference process was developed to enable all segments of Kashmir 's political groups the opportunity to join hands with the Centre to look at the problem. It is my regret that the Hurriyat, despite promises, did not come for talks. "I have not lost the hope to engage all groups in helping restoration of peace. I will be happy to interact with any group." |
