| Huge arms haul, 2 killed | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 19 Several militant hideouts were unearthed and huge quantity of arms and explosives were recovered in separate search operations launched by the Army in the region, a defence spokesman said on Friday. During a search operation at Shershali in Anantnag district, Army busted a hideout and recovered six kgs of explosive, five detonators, four hand grenades, five AK magazines, 300 ammunitions and a radio set, he said. In Shat Gund area of Kupwara district, they recovered 15 hand grenades, one rifle, four magazines, 220 rounds of ammunition and a radio set. In another search operation in Narad village of Kupwara district, three rocket propelled grenades rounds with booster, one UBGL, 18 UBGL grenades, 198 rounds of pika ammunition, 570 rounds of AK ammunition, 65 rounds of AK tracer ammunition, 19 AK magazines and one rocket launcher were recovered by the Army, he added. Meanwhile, two persons including a militant were killed in two separate incidents in Kashmir valley today, a defence spokesperson said. The militant, identified as Irshad Ahmad Dar alias Tauseef, was killed in an encounter with army during a search operation at Chak Chbaratram village here, he said. They have recovered one AK rifle, two magazines and 20 rounds of ammunition from the slain militant, he said. In another incident, a contractor Ghulam Nabi Khanday (46) was shot dead by militants in Pulwama district, police said. |
