Batala couple choose Jammu hotel to end life
No suicide note left, heart burn in love suspected

In mysterious circumstances, a young couple from Punjab ended life in a city hotel after consuming some poisonous substance.
Though the exact reason for this extreme step is yet to be ascertained, but prima facie the case appears to of a heart burn in a threatened love relation. Jammu Police have informed the families of the boy and girl in Batala, Punjab, where they belonged to.
According to police, a team of city police Friday morning recovered a dead body of a middle aged youth from Punjab from inside the hotel room in Gumat area. The youth has been identified as 32 year old Naveen, a resident of Batala. An unconscious girl identified as 26-year old Anu, from Purian Mohalla in Batala in Punjab was also found lying inside the room but she died later in hospital. Police suspect both the boy and girl died after consuming poisonous substance as a bottle of a poisnous material has been recovered from inside the hotel room.
Police said that Naveen and Anu had checked in a hotel in the city of Jammu yesterday evening.Till late last night they had ordered dinner and water in their room.It said that on Friday morning hotel staff received a call from Anu asking for drinking water.As the waiter went to the room the door was not opened despite his knock. Sunil the hotel boy said that after the door was not opened he informed the owner who called the police.
Confirming it superintendent police, Sanjay Kotwal said,'police jawans entered into the room from the gallery side and found Naveen dead while Anu lying on the bed in an unconscious state. He said that the jawans recovered a bottle containing some poisonous material. Anu was shifted to the Medical college, Jammu where she died.
The police said that their relatives in Batala have been informed and the bodies will be handed over to them after carrying out the postmortem. In reply to a question the police said that "we have not been so far able to ascertain whether Anu and Naveen were married or simply friends in love."
