Elaborate security arrangements to ensure incident free Dusshera

In order to ensure incident free conduct of Dusshera celebrations following reports of heightened threat from militants the district administration is making elaborate security arrangements for the smooth and peaceful conduct of Dussehra festival in Jammu.
Additional men from police force and para-military personnel are being deployed throughout the city and in the periphery to plug the entry and exit routes on the occasion. The security arrangements were necessitated following reports that militants in the region were planning big strikes to spread panic and create communal divide.
Tighter vigil in and around venue of dusshera celebrations at Parade ground in old city and Dusshera ground in Gandhi nagar area have been made by the district administration. The anti-sabotage squad of state police were seen scanning the entire area before declaring it safe.”We have made elaborate security arrangements to ensure peaceful celebrations on Sunday, a senior police official said.
The route of the religious procession taken out every year has been handed over to the security personnel and mandatory checking of the entire route length is carried out to ensure no untoward incident takes place, a senior police official supervising the routine drill said here today.
It may be mentioned that before burning the effigies of Ravana and his siblings a religious procession is taken out by the devotees in the form of ‘Rath Yatra in the old city which is accompanied by large number of devotees of lord Rama.The rath yatra carries the tableau of Lord Rama and Laxman besides other Gods and Goddesses.The procession start from historic Dewana Mandir and culminate at Dussehra Ground, Parade before the final burning of effigies of Ravana ,Kumbhkaran and Meghnath marking the victory of good over evil.
