| J&K Police handball team bags 4th place | | 56th All India Police Games | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 20 The handball team of the Jammu and Kashmir Police finished fourth losing to Punjab in the hardliner whereas in basketball, volleyball and kabaddi the teams failed to even qualify the pools in the 56th All India (volleyball cluster) Police Games which were hosted by Chattisgarh Police. Part of the annual All India Police Games, the four events were organized by the All India Police Sports Control Board from October 10 to October 14. In handball, the Central Industrial Reserve Police (CISF) emerged the winner beating the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in the final. Third place went to Punjab Police, who beat J&K by a margin of two goals in the hardliner. It was for the third consecutive year that J&K Police have finished fourth in the All India Police Games. However, three years back in 2004, J&K Police had hosted the event in the Winter Capital and managed the second position. Meanwhile, in other team events of basketball, volleyball and kabaddi Jammu and Kashmir Police could not even qualify their pool. It was again in 2004 when J&K Police secured third positions in basketball and kabaddi as a host of the events. It has been learned from the records that in the last three years, the J&K Police have not been able to perform upto the expectations in team events whereas those competing in individual competitions like aquatic, athletics and boxing have been able to make it to the medals tally. So, it is high time to see what plague the sports in the police and how things can be improved to achieve desired results. |
