| Pilgrim influx surpass previous records | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 20 With Katra town and uphill track to the sanctum reverberating with festivities on the occasion of Navmi, all previous record of pilgrim influx were surpassed as more than three lakh devotees drawn from different parts of the country offered obeisance at the holy cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi during the Navratras. The State Governor S K Sinha, who is also chairman of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board today offered Puranahuti at the Shat Chandi Maha Yajna, commemorating with Mahanavmi, at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Bhavan and prayed for universal peace and brotherhood. Earlier, the Governor and Lady Governor Mrs Premini Sinha offered Puja in the sanctum sanctorum. The Head Pujari in the Bhavan led the Pujas. The Governor also released a set of two audio CDs, carrying the composition of traditional Atka Arti including Stotras, Shlokas, Mantras and Aarti sung by the pundits of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. The Arti has been sung by the Pujaris of the Board in its traditional style and the composition has been arranged by Shri Amarjeet Singh Bijli, famous devotional songs singer and composer. Noted Music Director, Jwala Prasad has composed the tunes while noted Hindi newscaster Shammi Narang has lent his voice to punctuate valuable details of the Stotras, Mantras and Shlokas, which provide a spiritual ambience in the minds of listeners. By this effort, the Shrine Board has attempted to strengthen the bond between the devotees and Mother Goddess and benefit them with the collection of this spiritual music. The CDs can be had from the souvenir shops and sub offices of the Shrine Board at a nominal price of Rs 50 per set. |
