| Guv hailed for his ‘no’ to RTI Bill | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 21 State BJP has welcomed the stand taken by the governor by returning the Right to Information (Amendment) Bill 2007 to cabinet for reconsideration of different provisions in order to make it simple as per central Rights to Information Act 2005 so that any body can get the required information. A press release issued by the party here today said, “The Bill is meant to give transparency and the Azad government claims to be transparent while different provisions of the Bill is in total contradiction of their claim. In fact the Congress-PDP government has tried that documents and information should remain beyond the approach of common masses.” The release further said, “Even as the governor can not refuse to give consent incase the bill is sent again to him as per the constitution. Yet, the Congress government is fully exposed and it has come to fore that the government is not a corruption-free but corruption-full government. Hence it wants to hide the information from public. The stand of the governor should be taken seriously and government should try to adopt the different provisions of the central act and should not return the Bill which is an eye-wash only, it added. Meanwhile, state BJP spokesperson Ramesh Arora has demanded that Section-5 and other provision of central Right to Information Act be adopted in order to make working government a transparent and corruption free. |
