Do you trust your ... Partner?
8/20/2006 11:32:49 PM
Are you confident about your relationship or plain insecure?
Take the quiz to find out
1. While out with your partner you notice an unopened bag in the back of the car. While he/she gets out of the car, you reach over to the back seat and:
a. Open it and sneak a quick peek to find out if it's a gift for you
b. Finger the outside of the bag to try and discover what type of item it might house, lingerie? jewellry? socks? But ultimately leave it unopened
c. Ignore it—for all you know, it's that hideous present from his/her grandma.
2. One Saturday your partner tells you he/she is off to spend the day with an old friend from school. Are you:
a. Frantic. You're convinced that this is a cover-up and immediately begin questioning him/her
b. Slightly suspicious. You've never once heard of this school friend
c. Nonchalant. You couldn't care less how he/she spends a Saturday afternoon, so long as he/she is back in time for your dinner date later that night
3. How much do you know about the balance of your partner's bank accounts?
a. Pretty much everything... you know how much he/she earns and you religiously check the statements and receipts you find to make sure he/she is not over-spending
b. Only as much as he/she wants to tells you
c. Not a lot. It's none of your business... in fact, you couldn't even be sure he/she has a bank account.
4. After spending the night at your place, you discover your boyfriend/girlfriend has left his/her mobile behind. Before returning it, do you:
a. Check the call register for any numbers you don't recognise, read all the text messages received and sent, and check the voicemail
b. Answer it when it rings and have a quick look at his/her text messages just to see which sentimental love notes from you are saved. Awwww...
c. Recharge it as there is nothing worse than a mobile with no juice.
5. When your boyfriend/girlfriend calls from abroad to ask you to check his/her computer for an important email he/she is expecting, and gives you the password. Do you:
a. Already know it. You worked it out months ago and have been sneakily using it ever since to keep tabs on him/her
b. Check for the important message, and write the password down... just in case you ever need to access the computer again
c. Check the email, relay the message. Then instantly forget the password.
6. Wile you're logged on, you notice a folder on his/her desktop bearing the name of a former flame. You:
a. Investigate the contents of the file, open all the photos and read the emails from him/that are saved. There really should be no secrets between you after all
b. Open the folder, see that it contains a bunch of emails and old photos from a skiing holiday they went on years ago, and don't attempt to look any further
c. Shut the computer down. It's none of your business what he/she keeps in there.
7. Your partner is an hour late to meet you after work. You call on his/her mobile but can't get through. What do you do?
a. Call his/her mum, ex, friends and secretary to try and track him/her down. Not knowing their whereabouts drives you crazy
b. Leave a message, and then try his/her office to see if you can find out what time he/she left
c. Leave a message and start thinking about making alternative arrangements for your evening.
Scoring
MAXIMUM As: Love snoop extraordinaire. Words like privacy and phrases such as 'keep out' mean nothing to you, do they? You truly believe that you have every right to know all the intimate details of your partner's life and make it your business to keep tabs on every interest, engagement, email and phone call. In fact, snooping has become something akin to an addiction. Take a moment to consider whether your suspicion and distrust is harming your relationship.
MAXIMUM Bs: An occasional snoop. While you do exercise a smattering of self-restraint when it comes to the personal affairs of your partner, there are just as many occasions when the love snoop in you runs rampant. You probably do the occasional piece of prying, then feel desperately guilty afterwards and swear to yourself never to do it again... until the next time. Be warned: being sprung while snooping is never pretty. Try to control yourself.
MAXIMUM Cs: Remarkable self-control. Either you love and trust your partner implicitly, or he/ she is out there getting lucky with the opposite sex while you stay at home hoping for the best. Chances are it's the former rather than the latter. You two have a happy, healthy relationship and enjoy just as much time and space apart as you do together.
