| Prem Nath Dogra remembered | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 22 Prem Nath Dogra was a great visionary and had worked for the society in many ways, in addition to being a great political personality. This was stated by the former Union Minister and a senior leader of the BJP Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta while interacting with the functionaries of Vivekanand Medical Mission and other social bodies established in Ved Mandir Complex on the eve of 124 Birth Day of Pt. Prem Nath Dogra. Prof. Gupta recalled that late Maharaja Ranbir Singh had earmarked this land for Ved Mandir and some social activities but Pt. Dogra in his life time established there an Ashram for Blind, a Home for neglected aged persons, Bal Niketan for orphans, a Gow Shalla as also a Charitable Hospital known as Medical Mission. Pt. Dogra had worked hard in those difficult days against untouchability when late Maharaja Hari Singh opened the gates of all temples for all the communities irrespective of their castes although the society in those days was badly divided into castes. But he took all the communities with him to get rid of untouchability and other such like evils. He was against the evil of liquor and through out his life he had been advocating for curbing this menace, the BJP leader recalled. Prof. Gupta described late Pt. Prem Nath Dogra as a great patriot and said that the greatest contribution to the notion of Pandit Ji was when at the time of the sad partition of India in 1947, at the time of deciding the future of this state was getting complicated. This great Dogra not only worked for accession of Jammu and Kashmir with the Indian Union but also had struggled hard to impress upon all concerned that division of Bharat on communal basis was a wrong nation. The religion cannot be the base for creation of any country. If it was so, then there would have been one country for all the Muslims of the world and so had been the case for all other religions. In such a situation the country after the name of Bharat could not survive on the map of world as in India there are so many ways of worshipping God. The BJP leader recalled that how late Pt. Prem Nath Dogra and Dr. Shyama Prashad Mukerji had made tremendous sacrifices to protect Jammu and Kashmir an integral part of India. Prof. Gupta observed that though much has been achieved because of the great sacrifices to protect this state as part of Bharat but the dangers are not yet over. He emphasized the need for carrying forward the message of Pt. Dogra while remembering the works of this manifold personality. |
